In addition to playing 9 new compositions I've written specifically for the duo accompanied by master contact juggler Blake Habermann we will be collaborating with a film by Petr Salidar. We'll also perform 2 of Petr's compositions.

We need all of the live energy we can get for this unique collaborative experience. Be there while my second CD as a leader is being created. I'll have an e-mail list so that everyone present can pre-order a free CD as my way of saying thanks so much for your support.

Tickets are $10 for students/children & $20 for adults. The proceeds will help pay for all of the costs associated with putting out the album. There will be wine, tea, coffee and hors d'oeuvres for a modest suggest donation.

Logan Richardson - Alto Saxophone
Jesse Elder - Piano/Composition
Petr Salidar - Video/Composition
Blake Habermann - Contact Juggler
Jesse Patch - Videographer
Reed Taylor - Recording Engineer

Dunes Of Vermillion by William Brittelle

Dearest friends and colleagues,

Just wanted to tell you all about a big event I have coming up featuring the debut of my new project, "Future Shock", an electro-acoustic collaboration with ACME (The American Contemporary Ensemble), including the world premiere of my new (and first) string quartet.

Tickets/info are available here.

Also, I was fortunate to be the subject of a thoughtful feature in Sunday's New York Times Arts & Leisure section.  The article highlights my journey back to live singing - Tuesday's show will be my first non-lip-synched performance in over five years!

You can read the full article here.

And here's a link to a recent four star review in Time Out NY.

Last but not least, here's a link to the New Amsterdam page where you can listen to and purchase the new record.

Hope to see you at the show!!

Cheers,
Bill

P.S. Check out my BML page to learn more about the composition lessons I teach with Brooklyn Music Lessons.

Music of the East and West on Clarinet

Hear music from around the world by clarinetist Shanti Raval. The performance will be a mix of Western classical music for unaccompanied clarinet and Hindustani music, with Advait Shah and tabla.

Shanti's initial training was in Western classical music, but she began playing Hindustani music while working on her doctoral degree in music. She is now one of the few people in the world who uses the clarinet for Hindustani music.

Summer Contemporary Music Festival and Upcoming Performance

I feel fortunate to be chosen to participate in the Institute & Festival for Contemporary Performance at Mannes, which takes place June 14-23.  This festival is dedicated to training young musicians in contemporary music, and presenting performances by these musicians to the NYC public.  The IFCP festival is directed by Marc Ponthus, with Elliott Carter and Pierre Boulez as Honorary Advisors.  My former teacher, Robert Dick, is a guest artist this year and will perform on June 17th 8 p.m. at Mannes.  Anyone who has preconceived notions about the flute must see this performance!  This is a flutist who literally wrote the book on contemporary flute techniques, is a prolific composer, and is an inventor of the Glissando Headjoint.  Go to http://www.robertdick.net/ to learn more about this phenomenal musician.

As part of the festival, I will be performing at Le Poisson Rouge on June 20th at 6:30 pm with IFCP Guest Artists-TimeTable Percussion.  http://www.timetablepercussion.com/  We are perfoming the U.S. premier of Móvil I for flute and percussion trio by José-Luis Hurtado.  I am thrilled to perform with such great musicians at an amazing venue for new music!

BML teachers play Detroit Movement (DEMF)

Detroit Movement Festival

BML founder / director Bryan Noll will be playing guitar supporting Shigeto, aka BML teacher Zachary Saginaw this weekend in Detroit, MI. Bryan and Zach will be using Ableton Live with their own live guitar and drums to bring the Shigeto experience to a live band format. Shigeto will be headlining a show at the Magic Stick on Friday night and opening the Movement / DEMF Beatport Stage on Monday afternoon.

On the technical front, Zach is controlling Ableton with an Akai APC40 and manipulating Ableton's effects with an M-Audio Trigger Finger; Bryan is processing his guitar through Ableton's effects and Native Instruments Guitar Rig + Rig Kontrol.

Shigeto recently released an EP entitled 'Semi Circle' on the Ghostly International label and his full length LP, 'Full Circle' is due out this year.
