Max Goldman
Max Goldman graduated from the New School University in 2006 with a BFA in Jazz Performance. He spends much of his time rehearsing, practicing and touring Europe, the US and Canada with some of the following groups: Tim Berne's "Jerry's Kids," The Elan Mehler Group (Brownswood Records), Deep Red (Hercules and Love Affair side project), Basement Magic and Monocle (Hidden Shoal Records).
When not doing these projects or practicing on his own, Max really enjoys teaching a wide range of ages and ability levels. "It is an amazing feeling to communicate my love for the instrument and to share some of the ideas that have been passed down to me from my teachers, who include Gerald Clever, Kenny Washington, Rich Thompson and Tony Moreno." Max tailors his approach to each student's personality, musical interests, idiosyncrasies and learning style while still covering the types of techniques that are indispensable to playing the instrument. Lessons often include transcribing songs of the students choosing, technical fundamentals, reading and improvising - lessons are fun and relaxed with the student's goals always in mind.
