Jordan Brooks

Bassist, composer, and active member of the Brooklyn music scene, Jordan Brooks graduated from The New School University as a bass performance major. He has been performing, writing, and recording music for the past 10 years. His simple approach to bass playing has a far-reaching versatility that lends itself to many musical styles.

Currently, Jordan performs with Pocketknife, Amayo’s Fu-Arkist-ra, and Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble, and records for various pop and hip-hop studio sessions.

As a teacher, Jordan helps his students develop a foundation from which they can explore their creative interests with ease and gratifying results. He accepts students of all ages and levels for all styles of four-, five-, and six-string bass; theory and harmony—including chord changes, melody, soloing, and scales; composition, both writing and arranging; rhythm, with a focus on playing with drummers and cultivating a strong internal groove; reading music; music philosophy; techniques for concentration and relaxation; and developing a personal sound.
