Chris Berry

Chris Berry attended New School University in NYC where he earned a B.F.A in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance. While at the New School, Chris studied many aspects of percussion including the Moeller technique with Jojo Mayer, ensemble playing and improvisation with Ari Hoenig, and studio/pop drumming with Shawn Pelton. He was also fortunate to have studied Afro-Cuban and Middle Eastern percussion with Bobby Sanabria and Jamey Haddad.

Currently, Chris performs as a member of Xylos, The Avi Fox-Rosen Group and Bing & Ruth at venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Barbes, Le Poisson Rouge, Southpaw, and Banjo Jim's and festivals such as SXSW.

Chris began playing drums at age ten and quickly discovered a love for the instrument. Throughout high school, he played in orchestras, jazz/rock/pop bands, and a percussion ensemble that traveled to PASIC and Bands of America. After organizing a community after-school program teaching elementary school students, he developed a love for sharing music with others.

Chris' diverse background and encouraging personality provides students with a strong foundation to find their own voice. His home studio, equipped with two drumsets, amps, guitars, keyboards, and a multi-track recording setup is the perfect environment for lessons.
